From 1997 to 2002, he studied at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. He completed his studies with a very good result with honours. He obtained the professional title of Master of Law based on the defence of his thesis on the topic: ‘The role of the social environment in the genesis of crime’ written under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jan Świtka. He received the degree of Doctor of Laws in 2007 on the basis of a public defence of his thesis entitled ‘Podmiotowe i przedmiotowe uwarunkowania przestępstwa (Analiza kryminologiczna)’, whose supervisor was Prof. Jan Świtka, and whose reviewers were Prof. Dariusz Dudek, PhD (John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin) and Prof. Stanisław Pikulski, PhD (University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn).
Immediately after graduation, he took up a position as an assistant and then as an assistant professor at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, where he was employed until 2016, conducting lectures, exercises, conversation classes, optional lectures, a proseminar and a master’s seminar in constitutional law, in which he promoted 23 master’s degrees in law. From 2008 to 2013, he was also employed as an assistant professor at the College of Engineering and Economics based in Rzeszów, giving lectures, exercises, optional lectures, and promoting 27 bachelor’s degrees.
Dr Grzegorz Kowalski’s research interests focus on the problems at the borderline of Polish and Ukrainian constitutional and criminal law in the realisation and protection of human rights, with particular emphasis on the protection of the family and human life (including the unborn), as well as anti-abortion legislation.
